Certified antibacterial finish on textile materials by the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists and the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee.
What are these tests?
The American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) and the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee (JIS) are tests for antibacterial finishes on textile materials. These test methods are some of the industry’s best ways to quantify the antimicrobial activity level of an antimicrobial fabric.
How do they work?
- These tests evaluate antimicrobial agents that are useful on textile additives that provide resistance to microorganisms, potentially preventing infections caused by organisms of concern, such as methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
- They assess the antibacterial properties of textiles over a 24- hour period of contact, quantitatively assessing bacteriostatic (growth inhibition) or bactericidal (killing of bacteria) properties.
